The 1925 tubular steel club chair, rendered in cognac leather straps on a polished steel frame.
Inspired, the story goes, by the handlebars of a bicycle, the tubular steel club chair turned an armchair into a drawing in space: a frame of polished tube with the seat, back and arms slung between it in leather.
This is a new-made reproduction of the design in cognac leather. It weighs a fraction of an upholstered armchair and looks just as good from behind as from the front, so it works in the middle of a room.
Original and licensed examples sell for several thousand dollars; this one brings the look home for much less.
